2012 Western Snowy Plover Nesting Season Update

Today the California Department of Fish and Game reported that the 2012 western snowy plover nesting season has ended at Bolsa Chica.  The first nest was found on March 6 and the last on July 7, with the last eggs hatching on August 3.  The last plover chick fledged on August 29.  A total of 77 chicks fledged at Bolsa Chica this season. This is the highest number since 2004, when 79 chicks fledged.
